Our team comprises professionals with extensive experience in the field of clinical, academic psychology and child and adolescent mental health. Our goal is to promote mental health in children and adolescents, especially those who have been exposed to an unfavorable upbringing, such as being raised in an atmosphere of domestic violence.
Team History
The current team "University research group in Children and Adolescents, Clinical Psychology" (Guiia-pc E069-03) belonging to the Department of Personality, Assessment and Treatment ,Faculty of Psychology at the University of Murcia.
Since 1982, the director of the research group, Ms. Concepcion Lopez Soler, has been responsible for Child and Adolescent Psychology, University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca. There is numerous research and published work by the team in different areas: Neuropsychology, personality, psychopathological and developmental disorders, and multiple contributions made toward the study and understanding of disruptive behavioral disorders, mainly hyperactivity and attention deficit. In 2007 we began research in the field of post-traumatic reactions in children exposed to violence. The work has resulted in the study and confirmation of a post-traumatic profile of abused children, the development and validation of a protocol for assessment and intervention, and enforcement, a world pioneer, a system of Virtual Reality "Engaging Media for Mental Health Applications" (EMMA Child), based on the application of new technologies from the information society to psychological therapy offered to abused minors.
Since the foundation of “I Want to Grow", November 26, 2008, we have collaborated with public and private institutions in managing projects to improve mental health in children and adolescents in our region, mainly focused on attention to minors who have suffered domestic violence.
