"ETIOBE". Design and validation of a treatment program for childhood obesity supported by new technologies.
Description of Project: ETIOBE is the new smart therapy to treat childhood obesity through the use of mobile devices and other applications of new technologies in our information society.
Program applications are based on games using gestural interfaces and virtual pets who interact with the child and guide them through all phases of treatment. The idea is to access the patient's daily life to accompany and motivate them towards the best possible treatment. The system provides roughly three types of service: problem prevention, treatment and information. The initiative includes a biomedical shirt, to measure heart rate and movement in real-time; PDA or Smartphone in which patients record what they eat or the exercise they carry out; a website where all this information is stored, where they can play and receive nutritional advice and positive reinforcement regarding their progress
